Anthony Drmic is a professional basketball player from Australia and currently plays for the West Adelaide Bearcats of the NBL1 Central. Born on February 25th, 1992, in Melbourne, Australia, Drmic got his start in basketball at a young age and quickly rose through the ranks to become one of the most promising players Australia has produced.

 

Drmic attended Boise State University in Idaho, USA, where he played for four seasons for their men’s basketball team from 2012-2016. During his tenure as a Bronco, Drmic made significant contributions to the team’s success. His best season came during his sophomore year when he averaged 17 points per game and was named to the All-Mountain West First Team.

Despite suffering injuries that kept him out of standing tall during playing times after he was selected as Mountain West Conference freshman of the year as well. He bounced back to have one of his best games against Arizona State University on December 3rd of that year with a scoreline of 30 points.

 

After his successful college career at Boise State, Drmic returned to Australia and signed with the Adelaide 36ers of the National Basketball League (NBL) for the 2016-17 season. However, injury issues continued to lower his playing time until he carried all-season-ending ankle surgery that sidelined him for six months.

 

Nevertheless, this did not stop him from continuing his passion because he stayed injured but not broken yet! With a mutual option for a second season, Drmic returned to the Adelaide 36ers on 26 May 2022. In the NBL1 Central, he joined the West Adelaide Bearcats after the 2022–23 season.

 

Now, the Tasmania JackJumpers signed Drmic on 17 April 2023 for the 2023–24 NBL season. Drmic also played a crucial role in Australia’s sixth-place finish at the 2011 FIBA Under-19 World Championship, where he averaged 15.4 points per game in nine matches.
