Kings Crush Bullets in Commanding Round 7 Rebound

The Sydney Kings responded to heartbreak in the best possible way, dismantling the Brisbane Bullets 116–79 in a ruthless Round 7 display at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre.

Just four days after surrendering a 16-point lead to Tasmania, the Kings delivered a statement of intent — and a reminder of their championship credentials. It was Sydney’s most complete performance of the season, built on precision, poise, and power.

Xavier Cooks led the charge with 24 points and 10 rebounds, setting the tone early with four straight makes as the Kings blitzed their way to a 35–17 first-quarter lead. From there, they never looked back.

Sydney’s offensive execution was immaculate — 53 per cent from the field, 41 per cent from deep, and 30 assists to just four turnovers. The defensive intensity matched it, holding Brisbane to 43 per cent shooting and only eight free-throw attempts.

Kendric Davis added 19 points and seven assists, Tim Soares contributed 19 and six boards, while Jaylin Galloway (16 points, four rebounds, three steals), Bul Kuol (13 points, six rebounds) and Kouat Noi (11 points, four assists) all made major impacts in a balanced team effort.

The 37-point thumping lifted Sydney to 4–5, continuing their dominance over Brisbane with an 11–1 record in their past 12 meetings.

Casey Prather

For the Bullets, it was a brutal comedown from their 28-point win over Cairns just two nights earlier. Casey Prather once again carried the load with 24 points on 10-of-15 shooting, while new import Dakota Mathias impressed with 16 points on 7-of-11. Jaylen Adams, facing his former club, battled for 13 points but couldn’t ignite a comeback.

Brisbane briefly cut the deficit to six in the third quarter before the Kings — sparked by coach Brian Goorjian’s timeout — slammed the door shut. Noi, Davis and Kuol hit consecutive triples to silence the crowd and reassert control, while Soares punished the Bullets’ defence with a barrage of pick-and-pop threes.

It was a performance that showcased Sydney’s depth and discipline, a resounding statement after a turbulent fortnight.

The Bullets (3–7) now head south to face the Tasmania JackJumpers on Saturday, while the Kings (4–5) have a quick turnaround before taking on unbeaten Melbourne United on Cup Eve.

Final score: Sydney Kings 116 defeated Brisbane Bullets 79.
